Congressman Tom Tiffany of Wisconsin's 7th District has taken action alongside 19 other Members of Congress to address delays in United States Postal Service (USPS) mail delivery. The bipartisan group sent a letter to Postmaster General Louis DeJoy, urging him to address the ongoing delivery issues affecting rural communities across the country.

The move follows an announcement by the USPS on August 22, 2024, indicating that mail delivery times would be adjusted, resulting in further delays for areas located more than 50 miles from a processing center. These communities are already facing significant delays.

Congressman Tiffany highlighted concerns raised by his constituents: "My office has been hearing from numerous newspapers and residents across the Seventh District who are being negatively affected by significant delays in mail delivery," he said. He cited specific examples such as the Iron County Miner experiencing weeks-long delays and instances where newspapers were not delivered at all. He also mentioned similar issues reported by the Vilas County News-Review and readers of the Lakeland Times.

Tiffany expressed concern over the impact of the USPS's Delivering for America Plan, stating that it has led to reduced services and harmed postal performance, particularly in rural areas. "Veterans, seniors, and many rural Wisconsinites depend on the USPS, and it’s clear that changes need to be made," he concluded.

Despite several inquiries from Congressman Tiffany’s casework team, sufficient information regarding these disruptions has not been provided by the USPS.
