A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Town of Cranmoor on November 7, 2024. The request was made by Central Wisconsin News, a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.
The FOIA request specifically asked for a list of new voters who registered to vote on November 5, 2024. As part of our commitment to transparency and public accountability, we at Central Wisconsin News believe that access to such public records is crucial in fulfilling our professional responsibilities.
In our role as a media organization, we gather and report news to the public. This includes holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency for the benefit of the community. We requested these records under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq., preferably in electronic format.
Given our role in disseminating information to the public, we have also requested a fee waiver as a media professional.
