A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Village of Whiting, Wisconsin, on November 7, 2024. The request was made by Central Wisconsin News, a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.
In the request, we asked for a list of new voters who registered to vote on November 5, 2024. As a media organization committed to holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public, access to such records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities.
The information requested will aid in reporting accurate details about voter registration trends and potential impacts on election outcomes. It will also help us understand more about civic participation in the area.
As members of the media involved in gathering and disseminating news to the public, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals. We look forward to working with the Village of Whiting in obtaining this important information.
