Wisconsin Representative Tom Tiffany announced the introduction of legislation aimed at making former President Donald Trump's ban on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs permanent. Tiffany said that tax dollars should not support "discrimination, exclusion, and indoctrination." He made this statement in a January 24 post on X.
"Your tax dollars should NEVER fund discrimination, exclusion, and indoctrination (DEI," said Tiffany. "That's why I introduced legislation yesterday to make President Trump's DEI ban permanent."
According to a press release by Tiffany, he and other representatives have introduced the Fairness, Anti-Discrimination, and Individual Rights Act (FAIR Act). The proposed legislation seeks to terminate DEI programs in federal agencies, contractors, and other entities receiving federal funds. This aligns with Trump's Executive Order intended to prevent discrimination or preferential treatment based on race, color, or national origin.

"If we want to put an end to discrimination in the United States, the first step is for the government to end its own discriminatory practices," said Tiffany. "The FAIR Act prioritizes merit, delivers on President Trump's promise to end DEI policies, and ensures fairness by eliminating race-based preferences in the federal government."
Fox News reported that the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) has instructed federal agencies to close all diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) offices by January 22. Employees in those offices are to be placed on paid administrative leave. Agencies were also directed to notify staff about these changes, remove DEIA-related content from public platforms, cancel related contracts and training sessions, and submit reports detailing DEIA offices' personnel and expenditures. This directive follows an executive order signed by Trump aimed at eliminating DEI programs within the federal government.
Tiffany represents Wisconsin's 7th Congressional District after being elected during a special election in May 2020.
