Wisconsin Representative Tom Tiffany said that Republicans are safeguarding Medicaid for "disabled individuals," "pregnant women," and "low-income children," while asserting that Democrats want "illegal aliens" and the "able-bodied" to receive benefits. Tiffany made this statement in a February 28 post on X.

"Republicans are SAVING Medicaid for individuals with disabilities, pregnant women, single mothers, and low-income children," said Rep. Tom Tiffany. "Democrats want illegal aliens and able-bodied couch potatoes to STEAL your benefits."

According to the House concurrent resolution for the fiscal year 2025 budget, spending and revenue levels are set for 2025 through 2034. This resolution replaces prior budget resolutions and includes provisions for reconciliation, reserve funds, and policy statements. It outlines major budget categories and directs committees to propose deficit-reducing measures. The bill aims to reduce the federal deficit by at least $880 billion from fiscal years 2025 through 2034.

"In 2024, California expanded Medicaid to cover illegal aliens between the ages of 26 and 49. This will cost taxpayers an estimated $9.5 billion this year alone. Republicans want this to stop. Democrats want it to continue," said Tiffany in another X post.

Medicaid is a joint federal and state program providing health coverage to eligible low-income individuals, including children, pregnant women, elderly adults, and people with disabilities. Each state administers its own Medicaid program within federal guidelines, with funding sourced from both state and federal levels. As of October 2024, Medicaid covered approximately 72.1 million people. The program encompasses various components such as managed care, long-term services, prescription drug coverage, and supports home and community-based services under Title XIX of the Social Security Act, with additional provisions under Title XXI for the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP).

Tiffany represents Wisconsin's 7th Congressional District after being elected in May 2020 during a special election. He grew up on a dairy farm near Elmwood, Wisconsin, holds a degree in agricultural economics from the University of Wisconsin – River Falls, and served in the Wisconsin State Assembly and State Senate before Congress. His focus has been on tax reduction, job creation, and protecting Second Amendment rights according to his biography provided by House.Gov.
