The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point is set to honor an alumni couple with the dedication of the Chemistry Biology Building. The event will take place at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 2, in Room 105. The building will be named the Frank R. and Kathleen Y. Haeni Chemistry Biology Building. Remarks will be delivered by Joshua Hagen, dean of the College of Letters and Science, and La Vonne Cornell-Swanson, provost and vice chancellor for Academic Affairs.

Following the dedication, the 26th Annual Undergraduate Research Symposium of the College of Letters and Science will occur. Students from various disciplines will present their research through oral and poster presentations throughout the building from 2:30-4 p.m.

“Frank and Kathleen Haeni have given much to the university since their graduation from UWSP in 1970,” said Hagen. “We are so grateful for their support of student success, faculty engagement and state-of-the-art facilities. It is because of their gifts that our students can present their research at the annual symposium.”

The Haenis have supported the university through four endowed scholarships in the College of Letters and Science and the College of Natural Resources. They have also facilitated faculty-mentored undergraduate research, the Undergraduate Research Symposium, and the Olson Museum of Natural History. Their latest contribution established an endowment for laboratory repairs and equipment maintenance for the Haeni Chemistry Biology Building.
