City Of Stevens Point issued the following announcement on Nov. 19
The City Clerk’s office is looking for persons who are interested in serving as election official for the 2022-2023 election cycle. Election officials are paid $14.50 per hour for both training and Election Day duties.
To work as an election official, a person must:
- Be a qualified elector of Portage County
- Be a U.S. citizen
- Be 18 years old (except high school students)
- Be able to read and write fluently in the English language
- NOT be a candidate for any office to be voted on at the polling place at that election
Duties include registering voters, checking voter identification, issuing ballots, assisting voters with the voting process, and assisting with the election closing tasks.
Election officials are paid $14.50 per hour for both training and Election Day duties and also have the opportunity to work at the City’s early voting sites prior to general elections and other selected elections. There are both half day and full day shifts available on election days.
Anyone interested in serving the city in this important role can stop by the Stevens Point Clerk’s office to complete an application or print an application from the City’s website and submit it to the City Clerk’s office at 1515 Strongs Avenue, Stevens Point, WI 54481 or email it to the clerk at kyenter@stevenspoint.com.
