WASHINGTON, DC– Congressman Tom Tiffany (WI-07) has expressed his concerns about a controversial plan to resettle a large number of refugees in the Eau Claire area. In a letter addressed to the Eau Claire City Council President, Tiffany demands transparency and public input regarding the resettlement plans.

The plan, spearheaded by a non-governmental organization (NGO), has raised understandable concerns among local residents, particularly regarding the lack of information provided by city officials. It has been reported that representatives of the NGO met with the city manager before the announcement, but this information was not shared with local officials or the public.

In his letter, Tiffany states, "Given the dangerous conditions in these countries, and the Biden administration's alarming track record when it comes to vetting newcomers, it is inconceivable that the local community would be kept in the dark in this way." He urges the city council to investigate these allegations and take appropriate action.

Furthermore, Tiffany calls for the inclusion of residents in the decision-making process. He requests that the city council provide the community with an opportunity to submit public comments on the resettlement plans. Additionally, he emphasizes the importance of collaborating with state and county officials to assess the costs of the resettlement to Wisconsin taxpayers.

The concerns raised by constituents in the Chippewa Valley prompted Tiffany to address the issue. He acknowledges the need for transparency and public participation in decisions that impact the community.

It is important to note that Tiffany's letter does not oppose the resettlement of refugees but rather seeks accountability, transparency, and public input in the process. The congressman's intention is to ensure that the interests of the community and the concerns of the residents are properly addressed.

The Eau Claire City Council is yet to respond to Tiffany's letter, but it is expected that they will consider his requests and take appropriate action to address the concerns raised by the congressman and the community.
