Mid-State Technical College is set to host an event aimed at encouraging women to consider careers in welding. The "Women Who Weld" event will take place at the college's Advanced Manufacturing, Engineering Technology, and Apprenticeship (AMETA) Center in Stevens Point on Thursday, February 13, from 5 to 8:30 p.m.
This initiative is free for participants due to funding from the State of Wisconsin Workforce Innovation Grant (WIG). No prior welding experience is required for attendees.
The event aims to inspire women by providing a night of networking and practical insights into the field of welding. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear presentations from Welding Instructor Jessie Jelinski and Trina Raflik, a current student in Welding and Metal Fabrication. The evening will also include a tour of Mid-State's AMETA Center, a complimentary dinner, and a hands-on welding activity.
Those interested are required to register for the event by visiting mstc.edu/women-who-weld.
