Nearly 180 graduating high school seniors and their supporters attended Mid-State Technical College’s annual Admit Day event on May 2 to celebrate their decision to enroll as Mid-State students. During the event, Grayden Rode from Marshfield High School was announced as the recipient of the $5,000 "Big Decision Scholarship."
At Admit Day, students received certificates of admission, toured the campus, met with advisors, and interacted with program instructors. The event saw participation from various high schools including Adams-Friendship, Charles F. Fernandez Center, Lincoln, Marshfield, Nekoosa, Pittsville, River Cities, Stevens Point Area Senior, Tomorrow River, and Tri-County.
"Admit Day is more than a celebration—it’s a moment that affirms a student’s path and potential," said Jackie Esselman, dean of Recruitment and Admissions. "We’re proud to recognize their decision and honored to play a role in their future success, especially with opportunities like the Big Decision scholarship that can help turn uncertainty into excitement."
Grayden Rode expressed his enthusiasm about attending Mid-State. "Mid-State can help me because it will allow me to commute to a campus closer to home," he said. "Since it is closer to my home, it allows me to save money and have the benefits of a great college life. My mom and dad both attended Mid-State and have had great careers."
Rode is among over 1,500 local high school students automatically accepted into Mid-State through its Direct Admission program. This initiative partners with local high schools in its district to remove admissions barriers by admitting all 2025 and 2026 seniors.
