Mid-State Technical College will introduce a night option for its Early Childhood Professional technical diploma program starting in the spring 2026 semester. The new schedule is aimed at working adults, parents, and others who require flexibility while pursuing further education.
The program's night option allows students to attend classes on Wednesday evenings from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Wisconsin Rapids Campus. Some courses will also be available online. The three-term format enables students to complete the diploma in just over a year.
Students enrolled in this option will have access to several support services. These include free, licensed childcare at a nearby facility during class times, with dinner provided and limited spots available. Tutoring support and access to laptops, while supplies last, are also offered.
Ben Nusz, dean of Mid-State’s Stevens Point Downtown Campus and School of Business & IT, said, “This night option is about making education more accessible. By reducing barriers like childcare and scheduling, we’re opening doors for more adults to pursue their education and strengthen the local workforce.”
Jill Przekurat, an Early Childhood Education instructor at Mid-State, added, “Our program is built to deliver high-quality education that prepares students to teach and nurture our youngest learners. This new format ensures students get the same strong foundation, while also making it possible for more people to join the field and make a difference in children’s lives.”
Registration for spring classes will open soon with limited spots available for this new night option. More information can be found at https://www.mstc.edu/ecp-night-option.
