Event Description:
Building Resilience at Work: Tips for Avoiding Burnout
We are living in stressful and uncertain times, bringing the need for effective self-care practices to the forefront. It?s not surprising that many view their jobs as their number one life stressor ? and the World Health Organization (WHO) describes stress as the ?global health epidemic of the 21st century.? In our constantly connected and always-on world, burnout has long been a threat. In 2020 burnout became rampant, seemingly overnight. When life is uncertain and overwhelming, some might feel tempted to overwork in response. Others may feel frozen and self-isolated. Since the pace and intensity of our new work culture are not likely to change anytime soon, it?s important for us to focus on our self-care and build resilience skills to navigate work life.
This presentation focuses on the topic of wellbeing and self-care, which is rarely discussed but incredibly important. It is not selfish; in fact, it is more than okay for you to focus on your wellbeing ? it is imperative! Brooke will provide tips to help you better identify burnout and stress. She will discuss strategies and lessons learned to demonstrate the importance of self-care and wellbeing. And finally, Brooke will outline 5 key recovery practices that can help prevent burnout and foster resilience. There will be a Q&A following the presentation for participants to bring up questions and concerns related to burnout and self-care.
