Proactive Safety In The Workplace: Situational Awareness and De-Escalation

Everyone in your organization needs to be acutely aware and proactively involved in “hardening the target” of your workplace environment. Employees and employers need to be involved in preventing security risks and doing due diligence to protect the most valuable resource – people – as well as other related assets. This training session will cover a multitude of essential topics with the understanding that the instructors would develop a customized plan to teach the employers and employees at specific organizations/companies/churches the topics necessary to be better prepared in those workplaces in a future training session.

This training is also adaptable to any non-work environment - including, home, school, recreational, or similar situations. 

Intended audience:

Volunteers, Part-Time and Full-Time Employees, Clerical workers, Human Resource workers, Administrators and others at Businesses, Companies, Churches, Camps and other workplaces.

  • Situational awareness / vigilance 
  • Active listening
  • Awareness of potential weapons
  • De-escalation and Crisis Intervention techniques
  • Things to avoid in potentially crisis situations
  • Reading body language
  • Dealing with subjects with drug-related and mental illness issues
  • Response options for disorderly subjects, violent intruders and others
  • Discussion and scenario/role-playing attendee involvement 
Presenters:

David Forsythe - After a career of over 30 years in law enforcement, Dave recently retired as a Senior Special Agent with Wisconsin Department of Justice – Division of Criminal Investigation in the Major Crimes Unit. Dave has also been an Adjunct Faculty Law Enforcement Instructor at several police academies in the Wisconsin Technical College System for over 25 years.

Bob Wilcox - After serving 28 years in law enforcement, Bob recently retired as a Wausau Police Department Officer. Bob has also served as a CNA and a Police Liaison at North Central Healthcare Center for over 4 years.
