Yesterday, Representatives Tom Tiffany and Andy Ogles sent a letter to Secretary Mayorkas demanding answers regarding the Biden administration's potential plans to resettle Palestinians into the United States. This request comes after a progressive Democrat called for the U.S. to accept large numbers of Palestinians into the country.
The concern arose when a White House spokesman refused to explicitly rule out the possibility of the Biden administration resettling Palestinians, stating only that there are "no plans" to do so "at this time." In their letter, Tiffany and Ogles express their reservations about the Biden administration's use of "categorical parole" and other loopholes to allow the entry of foreign nationals into the United States.
The letter highlights the Biden administration's previous actions, stating, "It is hardly a secret that the Biden administration has repeatedly exceeded its executive authority, allowing massive numbers of foreign nationals to enter our country outside the scope of existing immigration laws." They specifically mention the use of "categorical parole," which has allowed the release of thousands of individuals into the country, including thousands from Afghanistan alone.
Tiffany and Ogles emphasize the concerns of the American people, stating, "the American people do not want to see this dangerous situation repeated with Palestinians." They argue that the Biden administration's vague assurance from a White House spokesman is not sufficient. They believe that the American people deserve more than a mere assurance that the administration has not yet identified a mechanism to flood American neighborhoods with foreigners from a region known for Islamic terrorism.
To address their concerns, Representatives Tiffany and Ogles introduced the Guaranteeing Aggressors Zero Admission (GAZA) Act. This legislation aims to prevent the Biden administration from issuing new visas or allowing holders of Palestinian Authority passports into the United States.
The letter and the introduction of the GAZA Act showcase the concerns that Representatives Tiffany and Ogles have regarding the potential resettlement of Palestinians into the United States. They are seeking transparency and assurance from the Biden administration that such plans will not be pursued. The American people, according to Tiffany and Ogles, deserve a commitment from the administration to not use "categorical parole" or any other loopholes to bring Palestinians into the country.
