The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point has announced the launch of an online Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Language and Literacy program. This initiative is aimed at supporting professional educators who are interested in advancing their skills in language and literacy education.
The new program is structured to help educators, literacy coaches, curriculum specialists, and administrators gain advanced knowledge and practical tools for leadership roles in education. The Ed.D. in Language and Literacy will be delivered mainly online, allowing working professionals flexibility as they pursue further education. The curriculum also includes an annual educational event that encourages partnership-building, scholarly presentations, and live discussions with researchers.
“Our program is built for educators who want to lead with purpose,” said Amber Garbe, program director. “We’re preparing literacy leaders who can advocate for all learners and drive meaningful change in their schools and communities.”
The 54-credit doctoral program can be completed over three years. Applications are currently being accepted for the summer 2026 cohort. More information about the curriculum and application process is available at uwsp.edu/eddliteracy.
