Wisconsin State Representative Tom Tiffany has announced his bill, which is now supported by over 50 cosponsors, aimed at preventing the Biden administration from unilaterally signing the World Health Organization's pandemic treaty. He expressed gratitude to those who have joined his effort.
"My bill to STOP the Biden admin from unilaterally signing the World Health Organization's pandemic treaty now has over 50 cosponsors," said U.S. Rep. Tom Tiffany (R-Wi), according to X. "Joe Biden should NOT surrender our sovereignty to the #WHO. This treaty could be completed soon. Thank you to these patriots for signing on!"
In March 2023, according to a press release by House.gov, Tiffany introduced a bill that was initially backed by 14 House Republicans. The legislation requires the White House to treat any pandemic agreement from the World Health Organization (W.H.O.) as a treaty, thereby necessitating Senate approval. The objective of this bill is to prevent President Biden from bypassing Senate consent by categorizing future W.H.O. pandemic agreements as something other than treaties. This would ensure they receive appropriate scrutiny and oversight.

According to another press release by House.gov, the bill highlights the W.H.O.'s response to the ongoing health crisis and urges caution when dealing with any significant international legal documents from the agency regarding pandemics. It cites delayed communication about the Wuhan outbreak and misleading statements about virus transmission and China's handling of the situation as key reasons for scrutiny.
"The United Nations-linked World Health Organization is a corrupt organization that President Trump got us out of, but President Biden disgracefully rejoined," said Tiffany in a press release by House.gov.
Tiffany represents Wisconsin's 7th Congressional District and was elected in May 2020 during a special election. According to his biography provided by House.gov, he grew up on a dairy farm near Elmwood, Wisconsin, and earned a degree in agricultural economics from the University of Wisconsin – River Falls. Prior to Congress, Tiffany served in both the Wisconsin State Assembly and State Senate where he focused on tax reduction, job creation, and protection of 2nd Amendment rights.
