FOIA Request Sent to Town of Grand Rapids Regarding New Voter Registrations on November 7, 2024

FOIA Request to Town of Grand Rapids Regarding New Voter Registrations on November 7, 2024.

As part of our ongoing commitment to transparency and accountability in local government affairs, we at Central Wisconsin News have submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the Town of Grand Rapids. The request, sent on November 7, 2024, seeks to obtain a list of new voters who registered on Election Day, November 5, 2024.

This information is crucial for our news coverage as it provides insights into voter turnout and engagement in the democratic process. As a media organization dedicated to comprehensive and accurate reporting, we believe access to such public records is essential in fulfilling our professional responsibilities.

In our request, we emphasized our role as media professionals involved in gathering and reporting news to the public. We also noted that access to these public records is vital for holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency for the community.

Given our role in disseminating information to the public, we requested a fee waiver as per standard provisions for media professionals under the Wisconsin Open Records Law.

We await a response from the Town of Grand Rapids and will continue striving towards transparency and accountability in all aspects of local governance.
