Rep. Tom Tiffany, a U.S. Congressman representing Wisconsin's 7th district, shared a series of tweets on February 11, 2025, addressing the issue of birth tourism in the Northern Mariana Islands and related legal actions in the United States. His comments highlight concerns about the practice of granting U.S. citizenship to children born on American soil to foreign nationals.

In one tweet posted on February 11, 2025, Tiffany stated: "In the Northern Mariana Islands, a Chinese national ran a birth tourism scheme offering 'tour packages' to Chinese women looking to give birth in the U.S."

In another tweet from the same date, he elaborated further: "I joined @RyanGirdusky to highlight the abuses of birth tourism in the Northern Mariana Islands. Women from China travel there to give birth – granting their child U.S. citizenship. Here’s a few examples on why we must end birthright citizenship." This highlights his stance against current policies regarding automatic citizenship by birthright.

Additionally, Tiffany noted an instance where legal action was taken against those facilitating such schemes: "A California woman was sentenced to 41 months in prison for helping thousands of foreigners give birth in the U.S., so their child could obtain citizenship." This indicates that some individuals are facing consequences for involvement in these activities.
