The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point is set to enhance its climate action efforts through consulting services provided by Second Nature. This organization, known for its work with higher education institutions on carbon neutrality and climate resilience, has awarded UW-Stevens Point pro bono consulting valued at $25,000.
UW-Stevens Point is one of seven institutions selected to receive these specialized services from Brailsford & Dunlavey, Coho, and Ever-Green Energy. These institutions are part of the Climate Leadership Network and have shown a strong commitment to sustainability both on campus and in their wider communities.
The university will collaborate with Coho, an adviser in energy and water management that focuses on renewable energy procurement and decarbonization planning. Together, they will conduct an energy study aimed at identifying decarbonization strategies for the university's updated Carbon Neutrality Plan. This study will aid in drafting the Climate Action and Resilience Plan, scheduled to begin in Summer 2025 and conclude by Spring 2026.
“This award fits into UW-Stevens Point’s decades-long commitment to innovative sustainable practices,” stated Pratima Gandhi, vice chancellor for Finance and Administration. “We are grateful for the opportunity to ensure a more sustainable future for our communities.”
Steve Muzzy, Climate Programs senior manager at Second Nature, expressed his organization's dedication: “At Second Nature, we are dedicated to equipping our member institutions with the resources and expertise needed to drive meaningful climate action.” He also acknowledged the support from partners Brailsford & Dunlavey, Coho, and Ever-Green Energy: “This year’s Pro Bono Consulting awardees exemplify the leadership and innovation that higher education brings to the forefront of climate solutions.”
