Mid-State Technical College recently hosted the FFA Career Development Events (CDE) competition at its Wisconsin Rapids Campus on March 18. The event saw participation from over 800 middle and high school students involved in FFA across Wisconsin.

The competition featured a variety of contests such as forestry, floriculture, dairy cattle and livestock judging, and vet science. Successful teams will have the opportunity to advance to the state FFA competition later this spring.

"Each year, the FFA CDEs coincide with National Ag Day, which creates a great opportunity to bring FFA members together to showcase their skills, compete in events and celebrate the importance of agriculture," said Dr. Alex Lendved, dean of the Marshfield Campus and School of Applied Technology. "This event not only highlights the hard work and dedication of FFA members, but it also provides an exciting platform for them to connect with others who share their passion for agriculture. We're thrilled to continue growing our contests, ensuring that we can offer more opportunities for FFA members from all corners of the state to participate and thrive."

FFA CDEs are organized at local, state, and national levels to enhance college- and career-readiness skills among students in grades 7–12. These events aim to develop critical-thinking abilities, effective decision-making skills, teamwork, communication proficiency while emphasizing ethical competition and individual achievement.
