Representative Tom Tiffany, who has been serving in the U.S. Congress representing Wisconsin’s 7th District since 2020, expressed a series of concerns through recent Twitter posts. In these tweets, Tiffany touched on topics regarding international trade, immigration, and congressional voting practices, drawing attention to his stance on these issues.
On April 14, 2025, Tom Tiffany pointed to various actions by China since its accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO) in 2001. He stated, "Since joining the World Trade Organization in 2001, Communist China has: -Stolen intellectual property -Grown its economy 11x -Used forced labor -Flooded markets with subsidized exports The WTO stood by and did nothing." This tweet aimed to criticize China's policies and the WTO's responses.
Later the same day, at 18:25 UTC, Tiffany commented on the political priorities related to immigration issues. He noted, "Democrats are more outraged over an MS-13 gang member’s deportation than they ever were over innocent Americans killed by illegal aliens under Biden. It shows where their true priorities lie." Through this post, Tiffany addressed what he perceives as a disparity in reaction by the political parties concerning immigration enforcement.
The following day, April 15, 2025, Tiffany advocated for a congressional vote regarding the United States’ continued participation in the World Trade Organization. He declared, "Americans deserve to know if their elected officials stand with them or with China in the World Trade Organization? Congress hasn’t voted on WTO membership in 20 years. It’s time for a vote." With this remark, he highlighted the need for revisiting the U.S. stance in international trading frameworks.
Tom Tiffany, 65, was born in Wabasha, Minnesota in 1957. He currently lives in Minocqua. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin–River Falls in 1980 with a BS. Tiffany previously served in the Wisconsin State Assembly from 2011 to 2013 and in the Wisconsin State Senate from 2013 to 2020.
