Representative Tom Tiffany, currently serving in the U.S. Congress for Wisconsin’s 7th district, has recently voiced his opinions on government spending and work requirements through a series of tweets. His statements come as part of an ongoing discussion about fiscal responsibility and social program reforms.
On June 3, 2025, Tiffany tweeted about a forthcoming $9.4 billion rescissions package from the White House aimed at reducing what he describes as "wasteful spending" at USAID, NPR, and PBS. He emphasized the urgency for the House to pass this package and suggested further actions: "Today, the White House is expected to send a $9.4 billion rescissions package targeting wasteful spending at USAID, NPR, and PBS. The House must immediately pass it. But we can’t stop there. We need to codify every single DOGE cut."
Later that day, Tiffany reiterated his stance on eliminating waste and fraud in government expenditures with another tweet: "We must eliminate every dollar of WASTE and FRAUD in our government. This $9.4 BILLION rescissions package is just the beginning."
The following day, June 4, 2025, Tiffany addressed work requirements by citing a report from AEI regarding non-working Medicaid recipients' leisure activities: ".@AEI reports that non-working Medicaid recipients spend 125 hours per month playing video games or watching TV. If you can spend 125 hours being a couch potato, you can spend 80 hours being a contributing member of society. This is why work requirements are so important."
Tom Tiffany succeeded Sean Duffy in representing Wisconsin's 7th District since 2020 after serving in both the Wisconsin State Assembly and Senate over nearly a decade.
