Rep. Tom Tiffany, who has represented Wisconsin’s 7th District in the U.S. Congress since 2020, recently addressed several issues of public concern through a series of posts on social media. Tiffany, who previously served in both the Wisconsin State Assembly and State Senate, used his platform to comment on state education funding, regional environmental challenges, and the anniversary of an attempt on former President Trump’s life.
On July 12, 2025, Tiffany criticized the University of Wisconsin System for its use of taxpayer funds. He stated: "The UW System just received over $1 billion from Wisconsin taxpayers in the state budget. Instead of easing costs, they are raising tuition and making it harder for Wisconsin families to send their kids to college. This is why people are losing faith in these institutions."
Later that same day, Tiffany commented on recurring air quality concerns linked to Canadian wildfires affecting Wisconsin and Minnesota. He wrote: "Another weekend of Canadian wildfire smoke and air quality warnings across WI & MN. With today’s modern tools to prevent wildfires, this shouldn’t keep happening. Canada owes us answers for its forest management failures." The post highlighted his criticism of Canada’s forest management practices.
On July 13, 2025, Tiffany marked the one-year anniversary of an assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump by referencing those affected by the event: "One year ago today. One millimeter away. By the grace of God, President Trump survived. Let us also remember and pray for the Comperatore family and honor Corey’s bravery in protecting those he loved."
Tom Tiffany was born in Wabasha, Minnesota in 1957 and currently resides in Minocqua. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin–River Falls in 1980.
