The production, titled “Fiddler on the Roof Jr.,” is scheduled for 7 p.m. shows on Thursday and Friday, August 14-15, with a matinee at 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 16. The performances will take place in the Helen Connor Laird Theatre at UW-Stevens Point at Marshfield.

“Fiddler on the Roof Jr.” is adapted from the original Broadway musical that won nine Tony Awards. The adaptation includes songs such as “Tradition,” “If I Were a Rich Man,” and “Matchmaker.” The story follows Tevye, a poor dairyman living in Anatevka, who tries to maintain his family’s traditions while facing challenges from changing times and anti-Semitism in Czarist Russia.
According to organizers: “Adapted from the nine-time Tony Award-winning Broadway musical, ‘Fiddler on the Roof Jr.’ brings timeless themes of family, faith, and tradition to life. Created by Broadway legends Jerome Robbins, Harold Prince, Jerry Bock, Sheldon Harnick, and Joseph Stein, the show features beloved songs including ‘Tradition,’ ‘If I Were a Rich Man,’ ‘Matchmaker,’ and more.”
The production is directed by Donna Thompson and marks UW-Stevens Point at Marshfield’s 19th annual youth summer theatre event. Over fifty young performers from Central Wisconsin between ages 11-18 make up this year’s cast.
The event continues a tradition of summer theater productions aimed at providing local youth with performance opportunities.
