The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point's Treehaven field station will host two educational program series this fall, offering opportunities for participants to learn about wilderness survival and explore local habitats.

The Wilderness Survival Basics Series is scheduled on Saturdays in September from 2 to 4:30 p.m. It will cover fundamental outdoor skills that may be critical in emergency situations. Sessions include "Fire & Shelter" on September 6, which focuses on survival priorities and protection from the elements; "Tools & Navigation" on September 13, which addresses essential supplies and navigation techniques; and "Plants & Animals" on September 20, where attendees will learn about useful and harmful Northwoods plants.

The Fall Hike Series will take place Sundays from September through October, running from 1 to 5 p.m. Each week features a different route and topic related to biodiversity, ecology, or the history of Treehaven. The hikes range from less strenuous routes at the start to more challenging terrain in later weeks. The final hike on October 12 offers views of peak fall colors.

Registration costs $15 per session with discounts available for those signing up for all sessions. All programs are held outdoors at the Treehaven campus near Tomahawk, Wisconsin. Participants of all ages are welcome; children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. On-site parking is provided.

Treehaven is managed by the UW-Stevens Point College of Natural Resources and spans approximately 1,400 acres of forest and wetland habitat used for education and public engagement.
