In Fond du Lac County, Wisconsin, a suspect has been arrested on charges including alleged sexual assault of a minor and false imprisonment. According to a report by Fox6, this arrest followed a complaint received by the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office, which led to a response at a residence in Oakfield on Sunday, May 19. The suspect is believed to be a man in his early 30s from Nicaragua who entered the United States illegally through Texas in October 2021. His use of multiple aliases has complicated efforts to determine his legal identity.

According to a report by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) faced significant challenges in fiscal year 2021. These included dealing with the pandemic and confronting a surge in Southwest Border encounters that reached a 20-year peak. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) supported CBP by deploying additional personnel to assist with migrant processing while adjusting enforcement strategies to prioritize serious criminal cases. This led to record repatriations heavily focused on convicted offenders.
