Mid-State Technical College is promoting its Advanced Manufacturing, Engineering Technology, and Apprenticeship (AMETA) Center through a new series of videos. This initiative aims to showcase the technical learning opportunities available at the Center. Ryan Kawski, dean of the School of Applied Technology, expressed the intention behind the series: “We are excited to showcase the skill-based learning of our AMETA Center programs. For those who can’t make it to an in-person tour, the video series is a great way to see what happens in the Center’s classrooms and labs. We’re also proud to feature our instructors who bring years of real-world experience to their programs.”
The videos demonstrate how students interact with industry-standard tools, such as manufacturing robots, CNC machines, and computer software used in design and modeling. Students are also shown gaining practical skills in welding, cutting, metal forming, and operating drones and GPS devices. This content offers potential students a glimpse into the hands-on training provided.
Programs included in the video series are Advanced Manufacturing Technology, Automation & Instrumentation Technology, Civil Engineering Technology-Highway Technician, Manufacturing Operations Management, Mechanical Design Technology, Metal Fabrication, Precision Machining Technician, and Welding.
The AMETA Center, which spans nearly 50,000 square feet, is located in the Stevens Point Industrial Park. It features state-of-the-art labs and classrooms, providing training opportunities for both current and future workforce needs. It houses 16 programs, offers several industry credentials, and hosts various apprenticeship programs, including space dedicated to the Wisconsin Bureau of Apprenticeship Standards.
