Community Wide Denim Day is October 7th

We have an opportunity to unite our community and bring everyone together for a good cause, whether you’re working from home or in the office, everyone can participate in United Way’s Community Wide Denim Day!

On October 7, 2022, United Way of South Wood & Adams Counties will be having its annual Community Wide Denim Day.  Businesses and organizations are encouraged to allow their employees to wear jeans in exchange for a $5.00 donation to United Way.

“The event got its start when a local business approached us and asked if everyone could wear jeans on the same day,” said Tari Jahns, United Way of South Wood & Adams Counties CEO.  “They said they had strict dress codes but if everyone in the community was participating, they could do it.  Now, our Denim Day is an annual event!”

To participate, businesses and organizations collect $5.00 per employee who wears jeans on October 7, 2022 and drop off the proceeds to the United Way office (351 Oak Street, Wisconsin Rapids).

You can make an electronic $5.00 payment on our website at www.uwswac.org.  Look for “Denim Day” under Events to find the link.  This is a perfect way for employees to participate without employers having to collect donations. It is also a way for anyone who works from home, or are self-employed, to get involved too! You can also feel confident in knowing that several other businesses and organizations across south Wood and Adams Counties are participating the same day.

Be sure to order FREE “United Way Casual Day” stickers for staff to wear on October 7 so customers know employees are supporting a good cause. Stickers are available at United Way’s office and can be ordered by calling 715-421-0390.

When your business or organization participates in Community Wide Denim Day, email photos to Taylor Miller at United Way at taylor@uwswac.org to be posted on our social media.
