Mid-State Technical College's Business Professionals of America (BPA) student organization is organizing a shoe drive fundraiser. The initiative aims to gather funds for students to participate in the BPA national competition scheduled in Florida this May. Shoe donations will be collected until April 3 at the Student Services and Information Center across all Mid-State campuses, as well as at the Advanced Manufacturing, Engineering Technology, and Apprenticeship (AMETA) Center.
The BPA members will receive funds based on the weight of the shoes collected. Donations are welcome from anyone willing to contribute gently used or new shoes.
All donated footwear will be distributed through Funds2Orgs’s network of micro-enterprise partners. Funds2Orgs collaborates with micro-entrepreneurs to support small businesses in developing countries where economic opportunities are scarce. The proceeds from selling these shoes help provide essential needs such as food, clothing, and shelter for families. This effort also prevents shoes from ending up in landfills while positively impacting lives globally.
Shoe donations can be made at Mid-State’s Adams, Marshfield, Stevens Point Downtown, and Wisconsin Rapids Campuses, along with the AMETA Center. For further inquiries regarding the shoe drive fundraiser, Sharon Behrens, business technology instructor and BPA advisor, can be contacted at sharon.behrens@mstc.edu or 715-342-3121.
