This two-year Associate in Applied Science (AAS) program is designed for those interested in addressing addiction issues. Graduates will be equipped to become substance abuse counselors, gaining an understanding of addiction's root causes and learning to assist patients with coping strategies and identifying personal triggers.
The curriculum focuses on developing skills in counseling, diagnosing addiction issues, treatment planning, group facilitation, and crisis management. Graduates will be ready for entry-level positions in clinics, hospitals, community residential facilities, and various social service agencies.
