Mid-State Technical College has received a 10-year accreditation renewal from the Higher Learning Commission (HLC), effective June 30, 2025. This reaffirmation follows a two-year process that included detailed preparation by the college’s HLC criterion teams and members of the Mid-State community. The preparations involved gathering evidence, compiling comprehensive reports, and organizing for an on-site visit.
"Receiving reaffirmation of our accreditation from the Higher Learning Commission is a testament to the exceptional quality of education we provide at Mid-State," said Mid-State President Dr. Shelly Mondeik. "This milestone confirms our ongoing commitment to excellence and continuous improvement in serving our students and community."
The HLC’s peer review team visited the campus on April 28 and 29, 2025, to assess whether Mid-State met accreditation standards. The team found that the college fulfilled all required criteria, including federal compliance measures. According to their report, one student commented during a forum: "I have confidence in knowing I have some of the best instructors I've had the opportunity to work with." The review also highlighted how values like I-CARE are part of Mid-State's institutional identity: "I-CARE [values] is not merely a motto but is deeply integrated into its institutional identity and mission of transforming lives."
With this renewal, Mid-State Technical College continues its efforts toward educational quality and upholding trust among students, employers, and the broader community.
