The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point’s Interior Architecture program is being highlighted in an exhibition at the Carlsten Art Gallery this month. The event, titled “Interior Architecture and The Art of Accreditation,” illustrates the coursework, projects, and skills that students develop during the four-year Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. The exhibit aims to show the journey of interior design students through their technical and creative achievements.
The exhibition is open to the public until Friday, October 24. A reception will take place on Thursday, October 23, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The gallery is located on the second floor of the Noel Fine Arts Center. It operates Tuesdays through Fridays from noon to 6 p.m., and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The showcase emphasizes how student skills progress according to UW-Stevens Point’s curriculum for accreditation by the Council of Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA). According to organizers, “UW-Stevens Point’s IA program has a long history of preparing students for the interior design profession and maintaining a rigorous accreditation and review every 7-10 years.” They add that with CIDA accreditation, “the program provides students with a direct licensure pathway and education that blends academic excellence with real-world skills needed for an evolving design industry.”
The Carlsten Art Gallery hosts a variety of exhibitions featuring both student work and internationally recognized artists. Themes often address topics relevant to campus life and Central Wisconsin communities. As part of UWSP’s College of Fine Arts and Communication, the gallery promotes creative exploration under the guidance of faculty, staff, and scholars.
