The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point has been ranked among the top public universities in the Midwest by U.S. News and World Report for 2026. The institution is placed 15th among regional public universities across 12 states in the Midwest region. It was also listed as one of the best value schools in the area, with recognition given to its academic quality relative to cost and its support for students receiving need-based financial aid through grants and scholarships.
Interim Chancellor Pratima Gandhi commented on the ranking, stating, “UW-Stevens Point offers an exceptional return on investment, with low tuition rates and valuable, hands-on experiences in all programs that allow students to unlock their potential and discover their purpose.” Gandhi also highlighted upcoming campus developments: “With a new Health and Wellness facility and a new Library and Student Resource Center opening next spring, we’ve invested into our students’ futures with upgraded facilities as well as with our engaged faculty and close partnerships with local employers and organizations.”
The university’s Sentry School of Business and Economics was noted for its undergraduate business programs. Since 2016, the school has held accreditation from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. It provides career-focused opportunities through resources like the Anderson Classroom to Career Center and a partnership with Sentry Insurance. Undergraduate students have options to begin working toward a Master of Business Administration degree while completing their bachelor’s studies.
UW-Stevens Point was also recognized as one of the leading colleges for veterans in the Midwest. The university offers various veteran benefits including participation in the Yellow Ribbon Program, an active Veterans Club, military science minor courses, ROTC officer training, and dedicated advising from a full-time Veterans Services coordinator. The institution holds a silver designation as a Military Friendly School for 2024-25 and is certified for GI Bill benefits.
Established in 1894, UW-Stevens Point’s main campus covers 400 acres in Central Wisconsin. It offers more than 100 associate’s, bachelor’s, and graduate-level programs across disciplines such as arts, natural resources, business, health care, education, humanities, and sciences. The campus features a 280-acre nature reserve within a city recognized nationally as one of the Best College Towns. Branch campuses are located in Marshfield and Wausau.
