Cost of college went down for resident students at Mid-State Technical College

In-state tuition and fees fell 0.7 percent for 2018-19 at Mid-State Technical College, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Wisconsin residents paid $4,432 to attend the two-year public institution this year – $61 more than the $4,371 charged for 2017-18.

Non-resident students would have paid 45.4 percent more than residents this year, or $6,445. Non-resident tuition and fees grew 1.4 percent from $6,354 in 2017-18.

About 98 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Wisconsin residents.

Data shows 88 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 61 students received grants or scholarships totaling $307,964 and 44 students took out student loans totaling more than $142,225.

Including all undergraduates (2,690), 1,211 students used grants or scholarships totaling $4.8 million, and 872 students took out $3.4 million in federal student loans.
