Skyward has been honored with the UW Regents Business Partnership Award, recognizing its long-standing collaboration with the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point (UWSP). The award ceremony saw participation from Skyward leadership, UW-Stevens Point officials, and Skyward employees who are alumni of the university.

Regent Edmund Manydeeds III expressed pride in the partnership, stating, “The Board of Regents is proud of the partnership between UW-Stevens Point and Skyward. From scholarships to internships to employment after graduation, Skyward is a great supporter of UWSP.”

Skyward, an educational software developer based in Stevens Point, supports over 2,500 school districts globally. The company has facilitated numerous student internships and employment opportunities at UWSP and has contributed through scholarships and support programs.

In 2021, Skyward inaugurated the Skyward Internship Center on the UWSP campus. This center provides guidance for 40-50 student interns annually across various fields such as programming and marketing. It allows students to gain experience while staying close to their classes.

The university dedicated Skyward Fieldhouse in Marshfield Clinic Champions Hall in 2022 to honor the company's contributions through the Skyward Scholarship Program. Jim King, a 1968 alum of UWSP and founder of Skyward, along with his wife Jean, established this fund to offer four-year tuition scholarships for students pursuing programming careers.

Chancellor Thomas Gibson expressed gratitude towards Skyward’s commitment: “We are extremely grateful to Skyward for its commitment to investing in our students through its robust internship program and generous scholarship endowment.” He acknowledged their role as a dedicated educational partner.

Scott Glinski, CEO of Skyward, highlighted the successful partnership: “Our successful partnership with UW-Stevens Point is visible every day at Skyward, where talented alumni constantly bring new energy, ideas, and innovation.”

Jay Rothman, president of the Universities of Wisconsin remarked on the significance of such partnerships: “UW students and campus communities receive extraordinary benefit from working alongside our business partners, and Skyward is a shining example.”

The award acknowledges how collaborations between universities and businesses can foster innovative curricular efforts that align with evolving educational needs.
