University of Wisconsin Steven's Point issued the following announcement on Dec. 3
The UW-Stevens Point swimming and diving teams are both in first place after the first day of the Wheaton Invite. The men's team ended the day with 651 points and the women ended the day with 434 points.
On the men's side, Sam Young (Verona, Wis./Middleton) won the 200-yard IM with a time of 1:52.30. Young also swam a leg of the winning 800-yard freestyle relay alongside Kody Hellenbrand (Madison, Wis./East), Will Lennertz (Muskego, Wis./Franklin) and Jacob Larsen (Albany, Wis./Oregon) with a time of 6:52.48.
Hellenbrand took first place in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:55.07.
Owen Miller (Mequon, Wis./Mequon) finished in first place in the 100-yard freestyle with a time 46.35. Miller also swam a leg of the winning 200-yard medley relay alongside of Larsen, Lennertz and Peter McMahon (Whitefish Bay, Wis./Whitefish Bay) with a time of 1:23.69.
The 400-yard medley relay team of Alec Jeffers (Green Bay, Wis./Bay Port), William Buhler (Racine, Wis./William Horlick), Gus Grimstad (Decorah, Iowa/Decorah) and Miller won with a time of 3:23.11.
Cameron Harris (Oswego, Ill./Oswego) took first place in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:52.87.
For the women, Anna Pilecky (DeForest, Wis./DeForest) won the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:03.17.
Kasey Fris (New Lenoz, Ill./Lincoln Way West) finished in second place in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:08.32. Fris also swam a leg of the 400-yard medley relay team including Mimi Trenary (Moline, Ill./Moline), Tiana Cachuela (Oakdale, Minn./Park) and Kyra Goedken (Green Bay, Wis./Ashwaubenon) that finished in fourth place with a time of 4:07.31.
The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Julia DeGroot (Kimberly, Wis./Kimberly), Haley Dees (Normal, Ill./West), Rose Hanson (Grand Rapids, Minn./Grand Rapids) and Goedken finished second with a time of 1:38.69.
Finishing second place in the 800-yard freestyle relay was the team of Pilecky, Dees, Brooke Buck (Wausau, Wis. /AZBA Academy) and Paige Anderson (Forest Lake, Minn./Forest Lake Area) with a time of 7:58.00.
