Aspirus Wausau Hospital issued the following announcement on Dec. 9
To enhance patient clarity regarding their locations, Aspirus Riverview Hospital and Aspirus Doctors Clinic will soon incorporate “Wisconsin Rapids” into their names.
Beginning in the spring, Aspirus Riverview Hospital will be called Aspirus Wisconsin Rapids Hospital, and Aspirus Doctors Clinic will be Aspirus Wisconsin Rapids Clinic-Peach Street.
“The new location-based names will be much clearer for our patients,” said Aspirus Riverview President Chris Stines. The new names will be especially helpful to patients who are coming from outside the area.
“Because of the excellent care we provide and some of the specialized services we offer, we have many patients, staff and students coming to our facilities who are not from Wisconsin Rapids, so ‘Riverview and ‘Doctors Clinic’ can be confusing for them. The simpler, location-specific names will provide clarity for them.”
The Riverview and Doctors Clinic names hold a great deal of sentimental value for both staff and the community. Staff will be invited to share their ideas for ensuring the Riverview and Doctors Clinic legacies are honored at each facility.
Location-based name changes will also occur this spring at the other Aspirus Health facilities in the greater Wisconsin Rapids area. The changes are consistent with the naming pattern the organization is implementing for its hospital and clinics throughout Wisconsin and Upper Michigan.
For example, Aspirus Riverview Clinic-Wisconsin Rapids will go by Aspirus Wisconsin Rapids Clinic-Dewey Street; Aspirus Riverview Therapies will be Aspirus Outpatient Therapies-Wisconsin Rapids; Aspirus Riverview Clinic-Nekoosa will be called Aspirus Nekoosa Clinic; Aspirus Riverview Clinic-Adams will become Aspirus Adams Clinic; and Aspirus Riverview Dental will be Aspirus Dental-Wisconsin Rapids. Aspirus Riverview Foundation will maintain its current name.
