Mid-State and Portage County Business Council team up to enhance leadership development program

A new partnership between Mid-State Technical and the Portage County Business Council (PCBC) is bringing new enhancements and college credit to PCBC's Leadership Portage County program.

Under the partnership, Mid-State will now deliver two hours of leadership content at each session of the nine-month program, which runs August through May and takes participants to a wide-variety of employers throughout Portage County. Successful program completers will develop a deeper understanding of the elements of leadership and graduate from the program with one college credit earned toward Mid-State’s Leadership Development associate degree.

Leadership Portage County is an intensive leadership development program designed to give all leaders the skills, knowledge and ongoing support they need to succeed. Participants grow professionally and personally from the variety of leadership, team-building, communication and self-awareness exercises. The program also challenges participants to broaden their understanding of Portage County and develop their leadership skills through network development, education and community engagement.

“The opportunity to partner with Mid-State to provide the leadership piece to our Leadership Portage County program is a big win for all involved,” said PCBC Director of Talent Development Holly Fox. “What a great way to collaborate and support one another while offering a fantastic opportunity to the participants and ultimately the community.”

“As a Mid-State part-time faculty member and business professional, I am thrilled to be part of this collaboration with PCBC,” said Mid-State Instructor Carrie Picardi. “Through our Workforce and Economic Development team, we can support community needs by delivering targeted training and development programs to serve an array of business objectives. Our program participants are able to access Mid-State's academic resources and attain college credit, while acquiring and honing critical professional skills to support their current job roles and career goals.”
