Featuring new dance works by faculty and guest artists, “Danstage 2024” will conclude the spring University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Department of Theatre and Dance season with performances May 3-5.

The upcoming event will feature a variety of captivating performances by talented individuals. Monique Haley will present "The Light," a jazz piece that explores the concept of inner empowerment and transformation. Haley's work reflects on how one's inner light can impact and change a space, akin to an energy shapeshifter.

Jeannie Hill's new work, "Out With a Bang!" delves into sonic communication, companionship, and community through dynamic tap dance movements. The piece involves eleven dancers and musicians, creating a vibrant and engaging stage experience.

Sarah Olson will debut "Against the Wall," an ensemble piece featuring fifteen dancers, set to a contemporary score by various artists. The work encapsulates the theme of radical hope and its ability to overcome seemingly insurmountable challenges.

Michael Estanich will premiere "In C, a vigorous study of time," drawing inspiration from minimalist composer Terry Riley's composition. The abstract examination of time will be performed by an ensemble of nine dancers, incorporating solo and partner sequences that highlight the power of movement.

Additionally, Estanich will present a restaging of "Inhabitants of Tall Grass," a trio performance that celebrates the simplicity and beauty of nature within an installation of reed grasses.

"Danstage 2024" promises to be a showcase of creativity and talent, offering audiences a diverse and engaging dance experience.
