UW-Stevens Point faculty, staff honored at University Awards

Outstanding faculty and staff members at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point were recently recognized for their exemplary work during the 2023-24 academic year.

Professor and Department of Political Science Chair Jennifer Collins was awarded the Excellence in Teaching, Scholarship, and Service Award. Collins, known for empowering students to explore new ideas, was commended for her work with the Pointers Voter Coalition and various student organizations.

David Cummings, a security officer for University Police and Security Services, received the Carolyn Rolfson Sargis Award for his 35 years of dedicated service ensuring campus safety. Cummings was praised for his behind-the-scenes work and for mentoring numerous students in security cadet roles.

Among the recipients of the Excellence in Teaching Award were Lindsay Dresang, Heather Molenda-Figueira, Jesse Mossholder, Ryan O’Leary, and Neil Prendergast. Each educator was recognized for their unique approaches to fostering student success, collaboration, and inclusivity in their respective fields.

The University Scholar Award was conferred upon Joseph Mondloch and Maggie Bohm-Jordan for their commitment to student research and mentorship in the fields of chemistry and sociology, respectively.

Valerie Barske, Paul Whitaker, and Ravyn Knipple were honored with the University Service Award for their dedication to campus-wide service and student support initiatives.

Brittany Kaminski, director of Marketing and Creative Services, was recognized with the Academic Staff Excellence Award for her leadership and contributions to campus projects over the past 15 years.

Jennifer Hess, associate director of Continuing Education and Outreach, received the Academic Staff Spirit of Community Service Award for her role in program development and collaborative efforts promoting trust and respect.

Additionally, Kelly Pickett, Erin Raikowski, Randy Lutz, and Kelly Bird were acknowledged for their Outstanding Work Performance in various roles across the university, showcasing dedication and efficiency in their respective positions.
