The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point will hold its spring commencement ceremonies on Saturday, May 18. Corey Jaskolski, a National Geographic Fellow and a 2000 alum of the university, will address the graduates and their families. As the founder and CEO of RAIC Labs, Jaskolski has traveled extensively with National Geographic. He is expected to speak to more than 1,200 graduates from the three UW-Stevens Point campuses.
The ceremonies are scheduled for 9:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the Skyward Fieldhouse in Marshfield Clinic Health Systems Champions Hall, located at 2050 Fourth Ave., Stevens Point. The academic colleges will hold separate ceremonies to award doctoral, master’s, bachelor’s and associates degrees. Chancellor Thomas Gibson will lead the ceremonies with assistance from Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs La Vonne Cornell-Swanson.
Dominick Reyes, a bachelor’s degree candidate in social work and sociology, will be the student speaker for the morning ceremony. In contrast, McKayla Martens, a bachelor’s degree candidate in elementary education, will speak at the afternoon ceremony. Alumni couple Amy (2005) and Sam Dinga (2004 and 2010) are set to lead the alumni pinning ceremonies.
The morning ceremony will feature Christopher Eaton singing the national anthem and Kaia Fitzgerald performing the Alma Mater. Meredith Johnson will perform both songs at the afternoon ceremony. All soloists will be accompanied by the UW-Stevens Point Symphony Orchestra under Andy Moran's direction.
Each ceremony is estimated to last approximately two-and-a-half hours and will be livestreamed on the commencement website for those unable to attend in person.
