Rapper Josiah Gillie, known as J.P., is set to perform at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, his alma mater. The event, titled “J.P. Presents: Back in the Groove,” will take place on January 23 from 8-9 p.m. in the Dreyfus University Center Laird Room.

Tickets for the general public are priced at $15 plus fees, while students with a UW-Stevens Point ID can attend for free. Tickets must be purchased or reserved online at tickets.uwsp.edu. The concert is open to attendees aged 18 and over, with no exceptions for those under 18, even if accompanied by an adult. Attendees are prohibited from bringing bags, coats, or other carry-ins into the venue; these items will be checked in a non-secure area.

Gillie gained recognition with his 2024 mixtape “Coming Out Party” and its popular single “Bad Bitty.” He created this track in his residence hall room at UW-Stevens Point alongside his brother and manager Myles Coleman, who is also a marketing major at the university.

Originally attending UW-Stevens Point to play basketball, Gillie discovered the university's strong music and voice program which influenced his decision to pursue music further. Reflecting on his upcoming performance, Gillie stated, “I’m excited to engage with the fans, transfer my energy over to them and hope that causes them to have a great start to their spring semester.”
