The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point is set to host a Black History Month event focused on art, literature, and music. The event, organized by UW-Stevens Point’s Diversity and College Access, is titled “Celebration of Cultural Expression: Art, Literature and Music” and will take place on Thursday, February 20th from 4-8 p.m. at the Dreyfus University Center Laird Room and Lounge.

The highlight of the event will be a keynote speech by Tia Richardson, a mural artist and owner of Cosmic Butterfly Design. Richardson has been creating community murals since 2003 and uses her art to promote healing from trauma. Her work involves collaboration with various community organizations across the Midwest.

Musician Martinez White will also perform at the event. White is the CEO of Intuition Productions, a multimedia brand specializing in millennial event planning. He has been active as a DJ in Madison and Milwaukee for 15 years.

The celebration will include an artwork gallery showcase alongside music and entertainment. Attendance is free and open to the public; however, registration is encouraged to ensure seating availability. Refreshments will be provided during the event.

For further details about the event or Diversity and College Access at UW-Stevens Point, interested parties can contact dca@uwsp.edu or call 715-346-3225.
