An experiential learning initiative at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point's Sentry School of Business and Economics is offering students a chance to apply their business skills in a real-world consulting challenge. The 2025 Case in Point Business Solutions Competition engages students in developing solutions for the Central Wisconsin Food Truck Association (CWFTA).

This year, five student teams, guided by faculty mentors, will address how to identify and promote the value proposition of CWFTA membership to food truck entrepreneurs in Central Wisconsin. The final presentations are scheduled for Friday, February 28, at 10 a.m. in the Dreyfus University Center Alumni Room. A panel of industry professionals and community leaders will judge the pitches.

CWFTA was established in 2023 to support mobile restaurants through partnerships, mentorship, and advocacy. Co-founders Taylor Okerlund ’20 and Carolina Corral ’24 will represent CWFTA during the competition.

“We were thrilled by the students’ enthusiasm, even before they knew the topic,” said Okerlund. “These students are going beyond their coursework to support a local organization and gain invaluable real-world experience.”

Kevin Neuman, head of the Sentry School of Business and Economics, commented on the competition: “Our students consistently rise to the challenge, applying classroom knowledge to solve real business problems.” He added that it "fosters critical thinking, teamwork and professional growth."

A total prize pool of $5,000 will be awarded among participating teams. The winning team will be recognized for its creativity and strategic thinking with recommendations that could impact CWFTA’s growth efforts.

The Case in Point competition aims to prepare students for careers in business by providing practical experience. In its second year now, last year's challenge involved assisting the Stevens Point Area Convention & Visitors Bureau with revenue enhancement strategies.
